The New York Stock Exchange traded a little slow. Maybe it was because of the severe weather up and down the East Coast or maybe it was because it was a Friday, I don’t know. All I know is that I’m done for the week and I am so so thankful because I was straight up burnt the f$ck out.
I traded Wheat this morning hoping to get a good jump on the day. I had to reduce my size because the overall market wasn’t really looking like it would move after my first trade yielded nothing. Over the course of a few more trades, I came away with a handful of ticks on kinda decent size so I was in the green.
Looking at the cash open, I knew I had to be careful because even though I made money on Wheat, it wasn’t enough where I could deem it a truly productive day outside of beating business costs. That meant that I would have a very slim margin for error trading the equity indexes and if I got to a handful of trades and I wasn’t beating costs by the necessary numbers, I needed to bow out. A few minutes into the New York open and that’s exactly what happened. I realized we were going to be slow and even after making real time adjustments, I knew that whatever it was I needed just wasn’t gonna be there.
Yes, I’m saddened that I didn’t make the kind of money I needed to today but again, if there’s one thing I really don’t like it’s going into the weekend with a red PnL. I just will not stand for it and will take unjustifiable measures at times to ensure that this is not the case. Anyway, I’m dead tired guys. I’m thankful to God that I protected my capital but I gotta go and sleep the rest of the day off.
